Please note that there is a small error on the Trinty exam forms. The rehearsals are on Saturday 23rd June 2012
Thank you to everyone who helped make Comedy Night such a success - we raised around around £3000 - a fantastic total that will cover the balance on our finale concert at Wavendon Stables next summer (which all our musicians will be part of) and enable us to provide transport for the Texans when they come to Tring - reciprocating their generosity to our students in October.

Welcome to the Music Department at Tring School. We hope the information here will tell you about our work with musically interested, gifted and talented students.

MATS News...
THANK YOU! MATS extra-curricular music is open to all free of charge. Without charging for membership we have to cover our costs through fund raising and, most important of all, through the tickets you buy for our concerts. Our autumn and Christmas concerts (including refreshment sales) raised just over £1800 and we want to say thank you for your support and let you know how that money was spent.

Our biggest cost is sheet music - £1500 last term. Each band/group needs 3-4 practice/concert pieces each term to keep rehearsals interesting and to enable us to increase the level of difficulty as the musicians progress. We also need to maintain the core equipment we use; in December we invested £300 on repairing our 12 year old Timpani kit (drums, cymbals etc). As you know, we also replaced the MATS uniform in September and to keep prices down for you we did not pass on the VAT. With these costs and small amounts towards photocopying etc our costs for the autumn term were in excess of £2000. The difference between the money we make from concerts and our costs is met through one-off fundraising efforts like the 24 hour play-a-thon, but you can see how just how important your support for our concerts is. So again, THANK YOU!

Mon 07 May 2012 May Fair
We're singing in the rain, just playing in the rain, what a glorious feeling... Possibly one of the soggiest May Days we've endured to date but nonetheless a comensurate performance. We didn't let the weather dampen our spirits and the audience were keen for more. We're established as one of the higlights of the day and a signific... [more]

Fri 13 Apr 2012 MATS year 13 celebration away day
It seemed odd not taking my sax with me, but I was sure glad to be going away for a weekend away from work! When arriving at school in my shorts, I was welcomed with laughs as many said I was being a bit optimistic…well, for good reason, as Day 1 of year 13’s Music Celebration Trip turned out to be very sunny! So sunny, in fact, we w... [more]

Thu 29 Mar 2012 Choral Concert
For the past year in Tring School, there has been one question on my mind. One question that could not have possibly been answered…until last night. Ever since the performance of Magnificat at last year’s Choral Concert I have wondered, “What on Earth will it take to top that next year!?”, and now I know – Senior Choir’s performance ... [more]
